but i couldn't group the dreamcast with the n64/ps1 simply because it launched early and died quickly like the 3ds is currently doing

I still think (hope) that the 3DS is just stagnating now since there are no games. There are a lot of cool stuff coming, just not for another couple months. Still ridiculous that it takes so fucking long for shit to come out though, not even the DS or Wii were this bad (and they were bad)

the main improvement was in grfx

the 3ds "improves" grfx as well as adds a gimmick

I would count it as a 7th generation system had a 3D screen been tacked on without improving the graphical capabilities, but according to Nintebdo, they have indeed been improved.
