So in light of the 3DS's disastrous performance thus far (only 710,000 units sold worldwide since march lol), starting August 12, Nintendo will cut the console's price from:

25,000 Yen to 15,000 Yen
$250 USD to $170 USD
$350 AUD to $250 AUD (lol poor aussies)

In addition, early adopters unfortunate enough to have purchased one at $250 will be receiving:

Super Mario Bros.
Donkey Kong Jr.
Balloon Fight
Ice Climber
The Legend of Zelda

And five other unspecified Virtual Console NES titles, as well as:

Super Mario Advance 3
Mario Kart Advance
Metroid Fusion
WarioWare Inc.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong

And five other unspecified Virtual Console GBA titles.  The ten GBA games will only be given to those who purchased a 3DS at its original price: Nintendo has no plans to ever release them as standard Virtual Console titles.

so that's 20 games total for you early adopters with special exclusives as compensation

[spoiler]I think Nintendo could have avoided this mess simply by releasing the 3DS this holiday season with $170ish as its original price, but at least it seems they've acknowledged that they have made many mistakes regarding its launch. [/spoiler]

also apparently the 3DS mario game will be titled Super Mario 3DLand and the new mario kart game will simply be Mario Kart 7
