It's a DoTA game. For those of you not familiar with DoTA, this genre (if you want to call it a genre) started from a Warcraft 3 custom map that got extremely popular and stemmed a few games.
The game is RPG like. You start with a hero at level 1, and the point is the destroy the other team's base or whatever you want to call it. There are tons of different characters with different abilities and shit, so there is a pretty good amount of depth.

League of Legends is also free (microtransactions are how they make money, as you can buy heroes or skins or whatever with money, but you can also buy them using IP which you get from playing a lot, so there aren't any unfair advantages for people who buy shit).

But yeah it's a really well put together game. My friend and I played it for a solid 5 or so hours yesterday, and once we got the hang of it, it was damn fun. I'd highly recommend giving it a try (it's free) and playing with me over skype or something.
