the small amount i read was stuff that was pretty accurately adapted in the anime. i read the chapter that featured the fight between sannosuke and anji, during the shishio/kyoto arc. so i'm guessing that at least that arc, which is like episodes 26 to 66, is more or less the same in the manga. but the art was of course quite a bit cooler.

i can't say a whole lot because they didn't have any volumes that WEREN'T part of the kyoto arc.

kaiba was interesting and all, but i'm not sure i really ever had a grasp of what the hell was going on with its plot...and i'm not sure i really cared after a certain point.

i really hate it when otherwise decent shows try to pull off convoluted faux-DEEP endings.

other than that, the show was just a little too rough around the edges for my tastes...in pretty much all aspects, but most notably its animation. one particularly bad episode (the 5th one i think) was just ugly in every sense of the word. i don't care if they were going for a different way of animating it so that it stood out stylistically, it was fucking GROSS.

ugh...i gave it a 7/10, and sadly i feel like that's being generous. this show seems to be beloved by a small group of people, and i can't really think of a reason why other than "omg its so different and deep u just dont get it!!!!!"
