in bakemono, she didn't serve at all as a character that araragi could actually talk to on an equal level, let alone one that could actually give him advice and provide that much comedic relief. in particular, i really love the first episode of nisemono almost entirely because of hachikuji, with all the fourth wall breaking jokes and "cool male protagonist sayings" trope jokes.

yeah, it honestly sort of bothers me how great characters like kanbaru were sort of...gimped and just made into fanservice

granted, the show is supposed to be more about his sisters, but even then, my favorite moments in the show shinobu, hachikuji, and senjougahara ones
