They aren't discussing spatial dimensions though.  They're just using analogies.

Gravity for example acts within a fourth spatial dimension.

Think of a rubber band.  If you put force on it, it bends into a second dimension.

A rubber sheet is 2D, but if you put a heavy object on it, it warps into the third dimension.

Spacetime is a 3D construct which warps to produce gravity, but where can it warp to, except a 4th spatial dimension?  I DON'T EVEN NEED TIME, BITCH.
