My parents are great. Just about the greatest people ever. flower;
They used to be a little over-protective, though. :\
And they didn't teach me to tie my shoes until I was around nine. psyduck;
But other than little things like that, they're awesome. flower;

My mom sucks. I dislike her. She's an extremely protective conservative Christian. Not only do I disagree with her way of parenting, but her religious views really irk me. I'm 16, and I still have to lie and sneak to go see R-rated movies or something. Worst part is, I've been doing this since I was 12. So much for her wonderful parenting; it's taught me to be a liar. :| ...I really don't understand her philosophy, though. It's like, "If they never never know that drugs or sex or violence or anything except Jesus exists, then that is a good thing! Yay!  flower;". However, as is obvious, a childhood completely sheltered from drugs and sex and anything otherwise a part of reality is absolutely awful for someone. I could see this being a good thing at age 9 or 10, but when I'm 16, it's just not logical. Fortunately I'm a smart enough person to explore these things for myself, and she's a stupid enough person to not realise this.

My dad, on the other hand, who I live with the other half of the time, is great. He pretty much has the exact opposite outlook on parenting, which is part of why he divorced. When I was 12 and my mom found me looking at porn, she enforced all sorts of absurd punishments... my dad, on the other hand, simply said, "Eh, you shouldn't be looking at that stuff, just get a girlfriend". And I respect him for that, among many other things. :P

i hate my parents.

ones decisions has managed to fuck up my life over the past 13 years.

and the other hates me and told me to move out because he doesn't want me around anymore.

YPrrrr

My parents are usually pretty good... Sometimes my dad will randomly flip out on people though, probably an effect he received from being in a couple warzones.

Also, they're a little overprotective. Like, "No, you can't go play cards, because the police will show up and arrest you, and then no college will take you because it will be on your record." psyduck;

Reverse Psychology

Bad. I live with niether of them.

I'll elaborate more later...

My parents are O.K. My dad is a lazy bum without a job, but he's cool sometimes. And my mom is a smoker who sometimes has really bad mood swings.

Both are getting near 50 years of age, so we don't really do any physical activities anymore.

They gifts they give are below average considering what other kids get, but I understand it's because we are short on funds.

Your parents are kind of like mine... Except that they are 50, my mom doesn't smoke, and they give me gifts of what some regular kids get.

But, we did have some money problems when my dad becomes a bum sometimes because he's mentally ill and can only take control over it for about 2 months before he acts wild, that's when he quits his job and spends most of the day shouting at everything because he's paranoid and actually thinks that some oof out family members are spying on him.

Both of my parents are approaching 50 as well. My dad is turning fifty in four months, and my mom is turning fifty in six months.

I dunno if I would trade my parenst for yours...Having them alive and well is a big thing. I'd hate to admit it, but I don't expect my mom to live 15 years more. Even though your dad is handicapped, he is still alive and will probably live longer than my mom.

Placebo Headwound

My parents pretty much don't care what I do as long as my grades in school are fine.

Does your dad have schizophrenia?
Look at my 1st post pleesh. HE'S FUCKING SCARY AS HELL! sweat;
I would contact a hospital if I were you.
My dad might run away because he hates going there.

Well, can't you tell him, a few things? CAn't you teach him to understand? I'm sorry but I don't know much about schizophrenia.

Well if he is schizophrenic, he's a paranoid schizophrenic, which could be considered "Stage 2" out of 4 of schizo. There's more to it than being paranoid, though. Schizophrenics generally are very withdrawn from the real world, preferring to speak to imaginary people, base their suspicions on their own imaginations, etc. If someone can tell the real world from their imagination, they're not schizophrenic.

This man may only have a paranoid personality type. There is a difference.

My parents used to fight all the time and not pay attention to us (me and my sister).
This all started about 5 years ago.
When I wanted to state my opinion on something, my mom used to yell "NO ONE ASKED FOR YOUR OPINION". When one of us would cry, she'd tell us to shut up. When we wanted to tell her something and she was on the phone, she's swat at us telling us to go away.

After her and my dad got divorced, she spent all her time on the internet looking for guys.
Now I live with my Grandparents.

My parents are great and supportative! They listen to my opinions and I listen to theirs!
Can we trade?

My parents are not old. My Mom is like 32 and my Dad is like 31. Both listen to rap and play World of Warcraft. And my Mom and Dad know how to text and are not technology stupid, accept my Mom that has broke like 9 windows computers and a few pocket PCs, they all died horrible deaths. And we live on a freak'in island man, the beach is like, 3 blocks away, man. My parents ROCK

So for the most part, I have good parents.

I find this very odd.

You have an amazing life. Oddly, it seems like your mom gave birth to you when she was still in high school (you're 15/16, right?), assuming she didn't drop out. Usually this leads to a bad life for the parent and the child, yet it is quite the opposite in your case.

Now we hear other stories of people's parents that actually thought about having a kid before actually doing it, yet the majority here have average/under average lives.

This doesn't make sense to me. psyduck;

Despite the fact that they nag and try to control my life a lot, my parents are actually quite good people to me. My mom is very young and had me when she was only 18. My mom's life was pretty depressing because of the fact that she had to raise me in poverty and a in house full of in-laws; now, being unrelated to all the people around you--they tend to treat you like shit, even a house-slave.

When I was born, we were very poor because my dad was preparing for his medical career and we had to live in a damn 3-bedroom apartment with over 15 people living in there. By the time I developed needs (games, toys, etc...) we couldn't afford it, and I lived a miserable life. Later on, at around 2002 or something--my dad began his profession as a pediatrician in one of the best hospitals in New York. It was then that we started to get richer.

Now, we live in nice three-bedroom house with me, my four sisters and my parents. Going through all that, we try to make each other's lives good. Needless to say, my parents are great in all. The only problem I ever have with them is the fact that they tend to be overprotective thus not letting me do some of the shit I want.

sorry i had to go through all that backstory or whatever
