i'm paranoid about the way i walk

a lot of the time i become very conscious of how i'm walking. how long my stride is, how much my hips are moving, etc. and then i start feeling like i have no idea if i'm walking "normally" at all, and then i realize that i don't even know what it looks like to walk "normally" anyway, and the whole ordeal is just...weird

i hate that, mostly because it seems like when you become conscious of your breathing, suddenly your breathing becomes more labored

It's not a baseless paranoia in my case though, I almost lost my USB flash drive three or four times during last semester.

ever since i left my wallet in a hotel once, i've always every once in a while reached back and felt to see if my wallet is there

OMG!!!!  I used to have this paranoia too!

It started in the first grade when my class and I were walking to recess.  William, one of my classmates, came up to me and said, "You have a cool walk.  How do you do it?"  I just stared at him blankly and wondered what he was talking about.  HOW DO I WALK DIFFERENTLY FROM ANYONE ELSE???

From that moment I've always wondered whether I truly walked differently and how it was perceived.  I've noticed that my footprints in the snow are really wide apart and that my feet land slightly outward.  Almost like a penguin.  Maybe I walk like a penguin. 

I still don't know if I'm a normal walker, but I don't care as much anymore.  Now I'm mostly paranoid about my running form.

I used to have minor pigeon toe until a few years ago, but my stride should mostly be normal now. Or at least I'd like to think so.

I'm somewhat paranoid about coming off as weird at all, but I'm sure it happens often.
