I agree. I usually keep it to like 4 icons max but I have been slacking. I actually cleaned it up some just to take that screenshot since there were icons all over the place.

I just never save things to my desktop and let my home (My Documents) folder get messy :P

I save them there just so I can jump to them really fast but immediately move or trash. I just have stopped worrying about.

Most browsers should default save to ~/Downloads, not just home. My Downloads folder is rather messy.
My desktop does get cluttered only when I have several mounted devices and network folders.

I love not having any icons on my desktop. At first it felt weird, but then I just moved everything to the start menu or taskbar.
