I am thinking about getting one for christmas.

My main concern is, if the books cost like 9 bucks to download anyway, I would much rather just buy the actual book for the same price or a buck more.
i'll just download open-source books or the pdf. downloads of them
they're free and you can convert them to kindle-format
fuck buying books if the internet is available

i'd only buy books with visual work produced inside of them (ie, Jung's work, art books, instruction manuals, etc.)

Used bookstores: $2-6 paperback, $5-12 hardcover. No shipping, son.

Plus ebooks cannot sell back for profit.

This may be a dumb question but if you don't get the 3G kindle, you can still read the books you already have even if you're not in a wi-fi area correct? You just need wi-fi to download them I assume

Yes.  The books are stored on an SD card, and maybe on internal storage too, but I can't remember if the Kindle has any.

some parts of the south haven't changed much, supposedly. not that i've been there, but i've heard that certain parts are "socially segregated" from a navy seal who did stuff down there. basically certain aisles in certain stores are white and others are black, but there aren't any signs people just behave accordingly.

it's weird.
