i have around 700+ novels and books on my wishlist and i'm not finding it very economically appropriate
15 books on amazon costs around 100 bucks with the shipping and all  

i'd only buy certain books if they're especially rare (rotfl Kazimierz Dabrowski writings) or are dominant in artwork if i had the e-reader to cover everything else

Yeah, I'm trying to get one for Christmas and I definitely agree with your concern.
I don't read very often, but I really enjoy reading, so the way i see it, if I have a kindle or something I will feel obligated to read.
