I am in need of your wisdom.

Why is it that any girl that is intelligent and attractive is either in a relationship with an asshole or just broke up with her asshole boyfriend so she can immediately jump into another relationship with an asshole?

Just curious. This seems to be happening a lot with everyone I'm interested in talking to.

Allow me to clarify. He can wish for a long-term relationship if he so pleases. However, he should not "get serious" with one and ask a girl "So, we're boyfriend and girlfriend now, right?" or anything to that effect after the first date.  n_n

'So, are we boyfriend and girlfriend now?'.  To me, that seems to be one one confirming if they're boyfriend and girlfriend.  And confirming that you are indeed that, doesn't mean that it's a long term relationship. goodjob;
