Go Down

Boogus Epirus Aurelius

I woke up this morning with grainy vision and one of those faint stabbing headaches that originates behind the eyes and pulses out towards every other part of the head. Itâ,,,s like those sonar pings you see in the submarine movies.

Needless to say, I wasnâ,,,t ready to slip out of bed and confront another rather arduous day.

Iâ,,,ve been stuck in a Monday state of mind for the past few weeks now.

Somehow, the darker gods decided to collaborate with my professors and Iâ,,,ve been
slowly climbing that mountain of work. Instead of a flag and a photo-op at the top, though, thereâ,,,s another wall of bullshit and the handholds are becoming harder and harder to find.

So passes the days.

Truth is, Iâ,,,ve never been so overwhelmed in my life. I tend to take the quieter, more relaxed approach towards these menial things, saving my stress for things that really matter.

Like losing a limb.
Like going blind.
Like almost starting my kitchen on fire.

But, the point is, Iâ,,,m kind of not really enjoying things right now. Iâ,,,m caught in this stasis swirl of lumpy nothingness and itâ,,,s wigging out my normally composed psyche. I think thereâ,,,s a limit on how many speeches one can write in a week.

So, back to basom.

Iâ,,,m getting out of bed in my foggy mucky state with my throbbing head providing a slushy backbeat to my swirling vision. I try to find some gung-ho through blasting traditional irish folk songs while trying to eat some stale cereal, but things donâ,,,t really fit together.

So I sort of willed away my blooming headache and went for a run before my morning class.

My head ran through some possible scenarios to getting out of some of the work I needed to do, but the early morning irrationality was slowly being replaced by the more earthly â,"I need to do this and this and.....â, mindset. Itâ,,,s healthy.

Apparently I had more than just two winds this morning, and I decided to do a bit of extra yogging. I set my direction towards the local convenience store. I wanted a coffee.

Setting goals is important.
While I was checking out, there were two kids by the soda/slushie fountain (at before 7:00 in the morning) attempting to fill their 984598465oz cups full of yellow flavored ice.

As I was taking my change, I hear â,"Jesus christ, what the fuck are you doingâ,

Those words were the finest introduction to the following scenario.

Apparently kid A (.) was filling his cup full of slush. The nozzle, instead of shutting off with the buttonâ,,,s release, kept spurting the shit everywhere. The cup overflowed and in the kidâ,,,s attempt to try to shut off the spigot, he ended up dropping the heaping mess all over himself and his compadre while the stuff still flowed.

Now these things have those little vents on the bottom to absorb any excess drips, but it was no match for the heavy flow of yellow/green sludge that was pouring out of the nozzle.

The attendant walked over and pushed something and the thing shut off and he started bitching at the kids as I left while I realized I couldnâ,,,t run with a hot coffee in my hand.

But I walked out of that door in my mafioso track suit like some kind of badass while everyone else inside was huddled, horrified, around the pound of slush on the floor.

?????

There is a deeper meaning to be found here.

Look hard kiddies

When I finish my screenplay, this is going to be an incorporated scene.

*Camera pan down to glass doors. Doors slide open. Guy walks out in slow motion with a neutral expression, sipping a coffee while everybody else is covered in yellow slush and frantic as they surround the melting pile on the floor*

?????

Badasses don't look at spills

No. No they dont.

They walk away in slow motion through traffic.

?????

Why stop there? There should be clouds. Lots of 'em. Maybe not sliding glass doors. Maybe the main character could push open the doors to make it more authentic. What kind of convenience store has sliding doors? Have everybody in the store freak out and things being thrown around. Cars crash all around. Main characters takes a sip from his coffee.

Too extreme.
The sliding doors are a necessity too. The automatic doors are yielding to the guy walking away, see. Like a subtle reminder that nothing stands in the way of a badass.

Subtle.

?????

Or you could say automatic doors are there because he's such a badass that he just plows through everyone and everything. That's how real badasses do it. They don't need pity.

I would know baddood;
