If going into university for a computer science degree, is it assumed the attendee already has prior experience with programming and the like. Or is it made to start from the beginning?

Daddy

You generally start from the beginning. I've had kids in my classes who had no idea what they were doing.

fundamentally this is a moot question and the wrong one to ask. follow your heart, not the money. if you're not already pre-disposed in the electronic arts & sciences, then common sense dictates you're at a disadvantage.

I am pretty handy with computers and technology and adapt fast, just don't really know how to program. And I already got my roommate assigned and he can program in several languages and works fixing computers....and he won a programming competition and now i feel... under qualified.

Daddy

It won't matter. Not everyone is expected to program from the beginning since there are several concentrations and fields of computer science you can go into.

Well at least you'll have somebody to go to for help, assuming that he's a nice guy.

He has the same car as me its weird but cool, and is going for the same program. He seems very nice.

That's something that really needs to be attempted before you start spending money on it. I at one point felt so certain that I wanted to be a programmer until I took a Javascript class (I left school at the end of the day to attend a specialized school) and realized that I hated programming and everything associated with it.

I don't hate it, I just have never actually learned much of it, I learned a bit of java but thats it
