So uh, I'm guessing a lot of you know who ScrewAttack are, and what they do. Probably through the AVGN or whatnot.

Well, around last November/December they've opened open a "Walkthroughs/Let's Play" section on their site, which is pretty much dedicated to the same sort of shit my site does.

Craig, the owner, sent us an e-mail enquiring about our traffic ratings etc, and offered a business proposal for "sharing content" (it's actually more than that, annoyingly.) which means anything we make, we also brand it with ScrewAttack, get featured on their site, but also share ad-revenue with them (their ads, not ours, they make more as they're with sites like GiantRealm or whatever it's called, meaning, were using their ads, and he splits it out in a percentage to us.) so basically, he wants our traffic intake and our content in exchange for cash money.

EDIT: We've also spoke to him via skype conference call (Him and Destin, with our 6 split owners.) - forgot to mention this so it's not like were just signing something over e-mail.

For us, this has a few REALLY REALLY good benefits, but it also has a lot of bad ones...

The Good:

* We get a bigger cut of money, by bigger, I mean A LOT bigger, mind boggling basically...
* We potentially get more traffic
* We have a millionaire backing us until he doesn't need us.
* It's possible to really expand the site if he supports us financially.
* Every year the Staff of our website (the six of us) will receive all expenses paid trips to E3
* Mentions of their news show every now and again about walkthroughs for new games.

The Bad:

* Craig wants a 30% cut of the business itself (he refers to it as the business, I refer to it as the site as do my friends that also run it.)
* If we gave him a cut, in future it could turn out really badly, especially if he diverse away from this sort of "feature" that everyone on youtube seems obsessed with right now.
* We look like sell-outs for joining up with Screwattack/having a Screwattack brand name next to our logos and videos.
* We need to talk to Craig before we make any huge release walkthroughs as he could get in trouble with Viacom (Really limiting our traffic, huge game + footage + walkthrough = tons of traffic.)
* Craig is slimy, I've heard tons of bad rumours regarding him and his former best friend Handsome Tom and how he stabbed him in the back and took ScrewAttack from underneath his feet. (life long best friends falling out over a business and money.) I'm afraid he'd do that to us also.

I DUNNO WHAT I THINK.

I want to say yes because of a lot of the benefits, but I really really want to say no when I remember all the horrible rumours about him...

I can't post this on my own site, he's watching it. SO I'M POSTING IT HERE.

I know some of you must watch screwattack's stuff.

OPINIONS.

p.s: the only Screwattack licensed people I watch are Mathan Barnatt (Keith Apicary's actor, the guy who said "HAVE U GUIZ SEEN DA DREAMCAST 2 to Olivia Munn at E3 this year.) and James Rolfe (Angry Video Game Nerd.)

oh and hard news sometimes also.

I dunno, this sites total business corporate style, really professional. It's kinda scary dealing with them.

What is 'hard news'? Who cares if you look like a sellout? I'm sure you won't miss the 3 or so manbaby faggots who won't watch your how because  you paired with SA? 'rumours'... Ask him about them.  Him watching your site is a little weird, though.

I voted Yes since E3.

Hard News is primarily found here:

http://www.youtube.com/user/screwattack

We don't know for sure he is - but were guessing he is, if he's interested in a part of it, then of course after you make the offer, you're going to be observant of all decisions made on it until they accept or decline.

I'm probably going to ask Craig about the rumours, though, no one really knows the truth, whether or not he'll lie, I dunno, he's a business guy so it wouldn't surprise me if he did...

Would you like if Boyah were purchased by a larger company, therefore--even if not eventually upfront--changing how the community is run?

Certain content can and will be pulled by the company to be more appealing to advertisers and sponsors.  It becomes more than "looking like a sellout", it's actually being one and losing a lot of the autonomy that one can experience with their own rule.

it's why boyah has had difficulty with ads in the past lol.

How close/large is the community Volvagia? That might change my answer, but for now I'm going with no.

We have a bigger forum community, more active members, about 1,000 posts a day, his forum is a ghost town, but his site's reputation is huge in comparison to ours, mainly because of the AVGN and other features on his site.

Forum wise, we beat him.

Video content/views/fans, he wins.

On par, he has the bigger community, but not in a communicative place, like we do.

Your "bad" reasons sound silly and childish.  I think most of the other guys will end up joining him, which will leave you and the others who don't join more secluded from prospect members.  You should accept his offer.

First off, I own a larger share in this site than every other staff member other than the owner. They can't do shit without my shares, even if they were like that, that is, which they aren't. (I read that sentence and it sounded pretty horrible/mean, so I added in that last part, I'd probably crumble to what they want eventually, but right now I'm unsure, as are others.) My "bad" reasons are reasonable, would you really want to be partnered with someone like that? (His rep being the main problem.) Oh, and Face is everything when it comes down to what we do. One sign of bad rep brings your whole fan-base against you. (Cloud8745 for example.)

Caution is only for people who subconsciously intend on not getting their way.  Just partner up!

Mando Pandango

I only know Screw Attack through AVGN, (who is a stupid unfunny hack who needs a good punch in the testicles) but I know enough to know that they're pretty big and this would be great for you. I still don't know what you do, BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT FOR YOU.

DOO EET. Worst case scenario: you get fucked over but gain business experience and can regroup with what fans you still have, which should be a fair amount.
