I think either way to say "syrup" is fine, but "bagel" was the most foreign-sounding word he said, imo.

Bagel is pronounced as "BAY-ghel", not "BAG-el".

Syrup is pronounced in a similar way to Syria, "SEAR-up", not "SIR-ip". Think Sears.


Maple syurp is Canadian. I'm pretty sure we are the ones who get to decide how you say it.
