You wouldn't want to trick-or-treat in Detroit...

A couple of weeks ago, I stumbled upon this video tour of Detroit's ghetto's while browsing youtube. This is actually just part one of three videos, each one being about 9 to 10 minutes long.

Here is one of the reasons why there is so much hopelessness and despair, so many gangs, and so few white people, in Detroit. Take a look.

If you want, here are the links to watch the other two parts of the series:

Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHhUDKfiggY

??????

i don't get it

there's scattered board up/abandoned houses around my neighborhood and sometimes people live there because they're homeless but everyone seems happy ;)

What about the ominous music?

Because I bet that's a big part of it.

Well, if you want, Part 2 has less ominous music. Go watch that.

yeah it would make a cool post-apocalyptic movie setting

Atually, I was thinking that if someone with enough money and balls wanted to, they could probably buy off a whole section of Detroit (since the land value is so low) and turn it into a realistic Halloween theme park, which could double as a movie set or paintball park in the off season. Just leave all the ruined buildings and big old trees, turn off the electrical grid, and WALLAH!

If I do decide to major in business, maybe I could move this idea forward later in life. >_>

It's not that bad as you guys make it out to be. There are also good areas.

But that can't be, that video is clearly a representation of the entire city of Detroit !!

Of course there are. There are nice areas and shitty areas in every city. What makes Detroit stand out so much is the huge ratio of bad areas to good areas, as well as the fact that Detroit is such an empty shell of it's former self.
