Allow me to go weeaboo for a moment: the Black★Rock Shooter anime

As you all know, I love Hatsune Miku. I love Vocaloid characters in general. I think the better songs created with Miku are absolutely adorable, even if they're not exactly something I listen to normally.

Well, for the uneducated, one of the most famous Miku songs is Ryo's (with Supercell) "Black★Rock Shooter." A video was created for it and it became very popular on Nico Nico Douga.

The character designed for the song, Black Rock Shooter herself, became a pretty instant hit with Vocaloid fans. A gothic-esque, gun-toting Miku lookalike was all too welcome. And the dreary landscapes and thematics like chains and crosses were forever assigned to her, and through tons of artwork, further music videos, and official merchandise, BRS became easily the most famous unofficial Vocaloid mascot.

Now, she's really hit the big time. Black Rock Shooter is starring in her own anime, aptly titled "Black★Rock Shooter." It even includes her nemesis, Dead Master, who was before only vaguely mentioned by the original BRS artist. The whole "they're typical school girls in real life" aspect may seem a bit cheesy, but I'm trusting that it will be pulled off well. And the art style is fantastic, and very faithful to the original BRS video, not to mention other work using Ryo's Miku music.

It will begin airing in April of next year, and hopefully won't take long to be released on DVD and then subsequently uploaded and fansubbed. I'm doubting an official sub and US release, but I'll try to remain hopeful in that regard as well.
