yeah rolling is probably the single most important mechanic of the entire series lol

glad you enjoyed, def play dark souls soon too. it's even better imo wrench;

Kalahari Inkantation

congratulations nyerp giggle;

i'm amazed you even made it as far as you did without rolling lol, it's one of the most essential abilities in the game

even well before false allant, i can't imagine how difficult it must have been to take down earlier swift and agile bosses like flamelurker (well, the legitimate way at least)

how did you feel about the ending lol

and i very much look forward for seeing you spam the dark souls thread, it really is better than demon's in nearly every way

Samus Aran

tbh as adamant as i am about mostly playing souls games "legit" as in mostly with melee tactics and a lot of rolling, for flamelurker i still mostly hide behind my purple flame shield cause i just don't really like that boss

Kalahari Inkantation

i was determined to fight him legitimately in my second playthrough after cowering behind a rib cage in my first

i didn't even use the purple flame shield (mostly because i couldn't yet wield it), but he's really not so bad as long as you stay on the move and pay attention to his move telegraphs so that you know when to roll lol (((and really that strategy could apply to pretty much any soul boss)))

honestly i would even say i think he's pretty fun now

yeah for flamelurker i waited until i was able to use the purple flame shield and i also switched to the crescent falchion because my longsword just wasn't cutting it and he's weak to magic. it just involved a lot of running in and hitting him right after his explosion attacks and then backing off. this method also worked well for penetrator since you can just duck under his pentetration attack and get a hit in. allant was the first boss to be so aggressive as to immediately punish me for attacking him.

i liked the ending. poor maiden in black :'( allant's motivation for doing what he did was pretty lame though

if nyerp can beat this game.....

he's fine, i just think his design is boring and as far as aggressive bosses go he's actually pretty tame, plus i just hate 2-2 in general so i'm already annoyed by the time i get to him lol

imo dark souls 1 and 2 have way better quick, aggressive bosses. especially when the dlc is included.

and obviously bloodborne because there are tons of bosses like that in that one but i haven't played it so

demon's souls is mostly for cool, weird bosses or interesting gimmicks and really good worldbuilding and atmosphere. its the dark souls games that have all the funnest boss fights to me

also

shrine of storms = tower of latria > boletarian palace > valley of defilement > stonefang tunnel

i like 2-1 way more than 5-1 but 2-2 has the worst level design in the entire game and 5-2 has this overwhelming feeling to it that isn't found anywhere else
