So I've been addicted to Civilization Reolution on my DS for some time now and I feel like it is time that i experience one of the real games.

So what is the best Civ game in your opinion? I also would like to have one on my netbook, which means that it will have to be one of the older ones so I can actually run it. Any suggestions?

Well I'd say Civ IV is the best, because it's taken the best elements of the first three and made them even better. An entertaining game all around. Then again your computer would most likely run into trouble running it.

I didn't really enjoy Civilization III as much as the other games in the series... Something just seemed off about it.

Civilization II is flat out amazing. Although the graphics are cetainly a  bit outdated (so it will run well), it's an instant classic and was somewhere in the top 5 of IGN's  top 100 video games of all time. I still go back and play it for the nostalgia

Civ 4 Complete is $20 on Steam from $40 until Friday.

I've heard it's not as up-to-date as the non-Steam versions, though.
