I'm always one to stand up for religious co-existence from all perspectives. I can't stand seeing a believer condemning a non-believer and I can't stand a non-believer condemning a believer. But Christians on facebook have really made me rethink this.

There's a lot of people who I don't really talk about religion with at school, but on facebook they have all these fucking bible quotes on their profiles and some even put up long notes about living God's way and getting to heaven. I was raised catholic, and today's catholic attitude is "relax, drink some wine, enjoy the lord, and if you sin, tell the priest and it's all good". But all these folks going to that fancy-schmancy baptist superchurch scare me.

QuoteMan, I felt God so strong 2nite it was insane. During worship it was hard for me to stand on my own. God is the reason that i live everyday!

I don't know. One side of me wants to go with my idea of whatever gets you through life. I personally need no god to live happily, but some people do and that's okay. But there's this sort of lack of individualism. I hear "live the lord's way!" and "the lord guides my life!". WHAT THE FUCK. Can't you guys give yourself a little bit of credit? Can't you just live your way instead of trying to please god? Sometimes this is okay, like this one guy who was really screwing up and looked to god to get his act together. But most of the time it's like... come on, get an identity!

I honestly don't know what to think. ITT: Christians on Facebook.

Uh, I remember one pissed me off since it inferred that atheists were bad people and couldn't be happy. I just ignore the others.

I haven't seen direct persecution to non-Christians, but I've seen close to it. I saw "Christ is the ONLY way", which is indirectly saying "no Jesus? YOU MAD!". I was very disappointed.

There's a poll on Livingsocial (I think) that says "Do you think atheism should be banned in America?"

something like 15% of people said yes

Oh

 How is one a believer? Are you stating that we don't believe something we should be believing? akudood; I think religion is a blanket of ignorance that gives people wrong answers they want to hear. I don't care what you believe, just keep it to yourself and don't bring it to the government.

People need to come to grips with the fact that most people do believe in god. I have no problem with it. In fact, I find that most so-called "christfags" have good moral values and dont necessarily display the overly socially conservative traits that they're sterotyped with. I think it's nice that they have something like that which gets them through life and makes them feel better about their problems. Good for them.

Yeah, but the problem comes when they mix their beliefs into laws that affect everyone.

Well first off, why is gay marriage banned in most of the US?  akudood;
Second of all, they're trying to teach kids creationism in schools with our taxpayer money.  akudood;
Then we have the abortion laws which prohibited people to do what they should be allowed to do.  akudood;

Zach

Gay marriage is banned in most of the US because most US citizens don't want gay marriage.
