opiated borders cashier

I was just at Borders purchasing a book (The Histories), and the cashier (who was like 22 maybe and female and not that attractive) was definitely either on heroin or painkillers, because she kept telling me about the book (and The Iliad, inexplicably) in a very inert way and moving slowly and had droopy opiate eyes

I guess she could have just been really weird but I'm pretty sure

I'd be able to work at a Barnes and Nobles or a local bookstore but I don't think I could possibly stand a Borders. I have always had bad experience in there with other people/the people working there.

A bookstore is pretty much the only place I could stand working that would legitimately hire a person of basically zero experience like me.

The last few times I was in a Borders the people were mean customer wise and so were the people checking me out and such.  It left a bad taste in my mouth so I kinda dislike it.

hah yeah the borders I went to has a barnes & noble across the street, they're exactly the same except I like borders because they have computer search things that customers can use.

there are a lot of bookstores as big as borders/barnes & noble that have a better selection, borders is a bit of a "corporate vortex of sorrow" because their inventory is designed to bring people in and sell shit books instead of cater to people who like books. for instance, you'll find 10 different editions of something famous like The Odyssey or something popular like every John Grisham book, but any uncommon/small-release book older than a year can hardly be found. this is because books work like music and book publishers are a lot like record labels in that they impede the progress of an artistic market and make it shitty... it would be like shopping wal-mart's CD section for good music.

Weird, I've only dealt with nice people in there. Must depend on how new they are. The newer the less jaded.
