I've now ordered all the parts. I got

ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 1366 motherboard ($289)
Intel Core i7 920 2.66ghz CPU ($280, I'll OC it up to like 3.8ghz)
nVidia GeForce GTS 250 512mb GPU ($130, free Cod: World at War too)
Corsair 750w PSU ($120)
OCZ Gold 6gb DDR3 RAM ($100)
Western Digital Caviar 1TB SATA HDD ($100)

And this case ($140): http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?id=NQ==

I also got a DVD drive and a wireless card with three antennas.

1T is so awesome. I'm so glad that HDDs are cheap as dirt. Though I would never spend that much on a case it is quite sexy.

i have 2 gigs of the OCZ gold ddr2 667

also, are you not getting a heatsink? akudood;

hotlikesauce.

Nice. Can't wait to see the result.

Yes and I'll be adding second and third terabyte drives for backup and extra storage... the case is expensive, yeah, but it's worth it for what I've read is superb cooling and sound deadening

uh between the mobo's built-in heatsink and the stock one that comes with the i7 I should be fine, the case has good cooling

intel isn't a shitty hong kong company barely making a profit, their shit is good. I plan on upgrading to a liquid system later anyway.

yes although last time I used Time Machine it took up an absurd amount of space

snorkel

All the shit arrived yesterday, and I put it together today. Nothing DOA or defective, the case is beautiful and the Corsair PSU even came in a felt drawstring bag ( doodhuh; ).

On the agenda is

1. install windows, install mobo/gpu drivers and make sure everything is working properly
2. get latest bios
3. attempt to install OS X, which I'm guessing will fail at least 10 times before I get it to work days from now.

Hiro

thumbup; Cool stuff, you should take pics thumbup;

Got OS X installed and fully working, and played around with overclocking the i7 a bit. Right now it's at 3.2ghz (factory clock is 2.6), although it can get up to 4.0 (but I need a better CPU cooler for that).
