Because somehow in my English teacher's world two missing assignments for the quarter = failing the semester. I had to write an essay comparing two marriage proposals from works by Jane Austen and Charles Dickens and I'm now working on some poetry explication for The Lady of Shalott that I'm plagiarizing the hell out of. The counselor already wants to fail me even though we haven't taken finals yet. Yay!

If the two assignments were major essays, then it could conceivably make sense.
