okay, after world war II the u.s. was like 'we fucking hate communism' and decided to enter a cold war with russia where we built lots of atomic bombs and tried to do cool stuff before each other.  both also invaded other nations to spread  "democracy" or communism, though that's like comparing fruit loops and spoons. 
(we ended up screwing up a lot of south america and now we are like LOL IMMIGRANTS though that is our fault).

we then invaded korea because dem damn commies and that domino effect were gonna spread communism everywhere. shit happened and then we now have north and south korea.

we then invaded vietnam and pretty much fucked shit up and lost millions of soldiers, destroyed their country, and then withdrew because we sucked. 

the cold war went on until like 1991 and shit.

I was driving around and I saw a homeless dude so I parked my car and walked over to him and gave him two bucks. Then we sat down on the ground and chatted for 10 minutes or so. He was pretty cook; had long hair and a beard and messed up teeth. A stereotypical homeless dude.
