My sales and marketting class is having a competition on http://vse.marketwatch.com and whoever makes the most money wins.
You start out with 100K, and the stock market plays real time. I'm in second place right now from some random investments on companies that are having good returns.

Any good advice out there?

Daddy

I played that game when I was a sophomore.

We were on teams. I bought Google and they dropped and my team was like baww James, and once it got back to 80 dollars they were like sell.

it then rose to like 180 dollars the next week, fuckers.
i wanted to invest in it irl.

Also, daveid.  Apple's second quarter closes later this month and their quarterly report is released sometime next month, which should see a jump in stock prices.  Unless the game ends before that, picking AAPL is probably a good bet.  Just hope Steve Jobs doesn't die.

It's going to go on for like 60 days from today, so that will be long enough. I'll grab a couple shares of apple.

Can you explain what a stock is?

something you buy in the stock market or something.
like ownership in a company or something.

YPrrrr

You could invest in penny stocks and make huge returns... with the risk of losing it of course

The only problem is that you can't buy stocks under $2.00.
Idk why my teacher made that a rule, but idk. I was going to buy a ton of Nintendo, since they're pretty low, and with the DSi release and everything coming up, I could have made bank. Oh well.
