I've never played. I'm guessing I'm probably going to have to find a private sever or some shit to play on right?

I don't really know what you mean by a private server... There is a long list of servers (rp, pvp, etc.) to choose from

The thing I always found annoying about it was that the map was so large that I had trouble finding out where I was supposed to go for various quests... I usually just ended up grouping and killing large quantities of monsters for experience instead.

The gameplay could have completely changed since I last played too...
