Because some people look for other things in a relationship. If you find someone attractive but can't stand to be around them due to their personality, then that relationship is going nowhere.

well it's not like i'm going to go out with some douche bag..
i'm just saying i couldn't just go out with someone that was nice but had a ugly face.

Sometimes you find someone through physical attraction without really talking too much with them. The "love at first sight" kind of deal.
And sometimes you meet someone who shares your interests and over time begin to notice how cute or handsome or attractive they are.

No, if you hit it off really well with a girl, but in your opinion she is not particularly attractive, I highly doubt you are going to go out with her.

I'm sorry, but if looks didn't matter then we would all be blind.  They're not the end all be all, but attractiveness and chemistry play an equal role.
