Bear with me, I have never done any torrenting (that'll be pretty obvious in a moment) so this may sound really basic to some of you guys. You see, my ISP gives us a monthly download cap of 20GB/month. If we go beyond that, we pay $8 per additionnal gig. My question is: in the end, is a file downloaded by torrent the same as a file downloaded normally in terms of the quantity of transfered data?

A seed is just like the file being stored on another torrenter's computer.
So when you are downloading (or leeching) the torrent, you are getting the file in pieces from all the seeders.

And I figured this all out just by thinking about it.

That was my guess at what seeds were, but I just thought that since it comes from multiple sources at the same time the ISP could see it as if you're downloading the same file the number of times equivalent to your number of seeds.

Or something retarded along those lines only someone like me can think about.
