DHCP should do that automatically.

If you're looking to set a Static IP and forward ports, you need to set up the Static IP on the Console itself, and forward the ports on the router.

i bought it before making this thread

i can get connected to the network but it claims i cant get an IP address from my router

my dad kept giving me random IPs to try

There's more to set besides the IP.

You also need to set:
The Gateway; or router's IP address
Network Subnet Mask
Primary DNS
Secondary DNS
