Introverts can still be social, they just need more time alone. You're mistaking it with avoidant personality disorder. hocuspocus;

It's something that should be worked on for the sake of your own betterment. If joining a group activity is too much for you - hey, it was too much for me, all I've done recently was... well, find a job spam; - there are still baby steps you can try. Stand more straight, look at people in their eyes. You may be already doing these things and if it's the case, I'm sorry for being presumptuous, but in my case I had trouble with those and I do a bit of effort to do them now. I don't know if it actually makes me look less shy, but at least I feel more confident.
