1. Why, oh why, oh why should Outsider continue to exist? Based on past history, and where it's future is.

Because if people want it to exist, even if they have no damn clue how to run a forum and have no people skills whatsoever, they'll make an attempt to continue it, or at least make a clone that is intended to replace it. And the result of that will just suck completely, and there are enough shitty and badly run clones of internet forums as it is. We don't need any more.
People can try and make a new one, and it'll be crap. At the very best it'll be a poor imitation of this place. Outsider should continue to exist for the benefit of the internet and mankind as a whole.

2. What would you want to see for the future of Outsider? Would you prefer it to remain intact? Do you want it to change into something else? Is there anything you see that needs an overhaul? Do you want a complete change in the governing body (turn into, gulp, YourSider?)?

Arguably the biggest reason I don't visit this place on a regular basis for long stretches of time is the fact that it's so damn difficult and yet crucial to stay in the loop of what the fuck is going on in this place. Two years ago (pretty much to the day actually) I moved house, and had no internet in my new house for over a month. Before then I posted pretty regularly, and for a short period of time had the one of the highest postcounts on the forum.
And then, after my month away, I come back and realise that I actually no longer have a fucking clue who anyone is or where all the zillions of in-jokes actually came from. Maybe in some ways it'd destroy perhaps one of the things which, for some people, makes Outsider great, but I get the feeling like things could be so much easier if people just stuck to one damn name for most of the time. At the very least, people would be able to come back to the forum after being absent for whatever reason and they wouldn't have to spend a month just catching up on what is what. If I want to go somewhere and not have a fucking clue who anyone is, I have 4chan.

It'd also be nice if people could save the witty comments and retorts for when they're actually witty and funny, but I reckon I'd be asking for a little too much from some people there. And again, some would say that it's killing the spirit of Outsider or whatever.

For the way things are run, I think Phydeaux should remain as the head, and perhaps sole administrator. I trust his judgement, and I think he's one of the few people here who actually understands when it's appropriate to be inappropriate.
Nobody is perfect, but it'd seem that the only time Phydeaux actually genuinely does something potentially bad to this place is when others push him into doing it. If people stopped going out of their fucking way to constantly harass and irritate him then there'd most likely be no problems. The fact that this thread exists is at least a sign that he shows some respect for the opinions of the members here (or at least pretends to).
This place doesn't need anything more than Phy as admin, maybe a tech admin either to support him or provide an alternate person to fix things if something breaks, and then a handful of moderators to keep whatever in check. The number of admins before was just stupid. There's really not that much to do in maintaining a forum once it's initially set up. No way you needed that many people.

I've not been on that often, so perhaps in one sense I'm not in a position to suggest where things could be improved. Or, in another sense, perhaps I am, because I know why I left, and I know what would keep me posting here for a little more than a week or two every few months.
