It's a competition for Latin students like myself. I don't know much about it or what the layout is, but my Latin teacher wants me to participate because I'm good at Latin.

I've done stuff like this in the past and I've really enjoyed it, plus doing this can get me scholarships apparently. So I'm in.

Advantages of learning Latin:

Derivatives and a better understanding of the English language.
Basic understanding of all the Romance languages.
Helps you in grammar, a lot, having to learn the different parts of speech.
Higher SAT scores.
Helps with the fields of math and science.

It's helped me a lot in physics already, with not even a full semester of it.

I took 3 years of mandatory Latin and it did nothing to help my grades in French or Science. I don't believe that a correlation between Latin and higher SAT scores, because for the most part only schools with a high enough standard of education already would offer such an option.

It is wonderful and fun, grants all sorts of opportunities for reading about history and interpreting monuments, and is elegant and poetic. But there is little more educational benefit than any other difficult mental exercise.
