Dear Members of the Official Commodore Guff, New and Old.

I'm sure that many of you have noticed how people have stated that Commodore Guff is going "down the toilet" or "downhill". Or some may be fond of Bill Cosby's "Going down the mountain". Commodore Guff was once a place where everyone could actually have a good time. We had many members that were considered cool, and many members that were considered intelligent, and many members considered funny. I am speaking of the Peak of Commodore Guff. 2004. 2004 was undoubtedly the greatest year in  history. I have been a member of Commodore Guff since 2003. (I registered to the forums in 2004, but I've been around since 03.) Commodore Guff had cool members at the time. LSMD. Nindgod. Ansem. Ronald_Mcdonald, and many more.

These were the members that were around when Commodore Guff hit it's peak.

Those were some really cool Commodore Guffs that made the forums a fun place to be. Quite frankly, since they left/got banned, Commodore Guff started going downhill. Dramaticly. I made a post yesterday that said "Boo @ Pitfan". No one understood it. If I made a post saying Mod Mario was fat, they would be confused. All of the old Commodore Guffs are leaving, and the new ones are joining. The new Commodore Guffs have no knowledge of what Commodore Guff really was. _Twinrova_ left. JJ left. All of the good members leave. Now you may ask, why? Why would they leave? It's simple. Many of the new users are unaware of Chat Threads and Power On RP. A majority of Commodore Guffs came here JUST for Power On RP. And many visited Power On for Chat Threads. Today, when I visit places like the Metroid Prime Hunters board, I wonder what grades these kids get in English. I wonder why the intelligence rates have gone down on Commodre Guff. It's the new Commodore Guffs that, honestly, are ruining the place. Then again, the NOA's decisions are making the forums worse too. Get rid of Power On RP? Chat Threads? Epic Center? There were a lot of boards that should be around. However, they keep the Donkey Kong board. Thats a smart move.

ASK NOA_ANDY, the chat that happens on the first Wednesday of every month, is pointless. I went to the chat recently, and the same question was asked 3 times. He answered them all. What a waste of 10 minutes. I had a decent question. You know the Commodore Guff rules? If you look up underneath the forum logo, it says Your Screen Name, Logout, Settings, Dashboard, Help, and Rules. Now, if you click Rules, it states "Above all else, have fun!" I tell you all, I'm not having fun. Many of my Friends have left the forums because of not having fun. Many of those Friends were very well known figures on Commodore Guff. Commodore Guff is a place where we come to discuss Guff. Those people, loved Guff. They left, or got banned. That brings up another point. You know that Sage system? Yeah, that sure is useful. Have you ever visited the Wifi boards? When a sage posts, members think that they are Holy, and if anyone disagrees with them, they all yell at them. Reminds me of the post that Grim777 made about "Cheapness" in the MPH board. Now, Grim777 at the time, would pick a certain level called Headshot, in which if you pick the character Sylux, you can fly around in the level. The level is pretty expansive too. Since my character can't fly into space, how am I supposed to get him? He kills me once and runs away the whole game. He did that all the time, and then he has the nerve to post a message on what is "True Cheapness"? The thread was 12 pages long filled with me and other Commodore Guffs bashing Grim777, and all of the new members would back Grim up because he was a Sage. "It's part of the Game" "He has a bad router". Then, the best part was definitly when a member said "It's only bad when you disconnect on purpose" Well, he was freaking out when we told him Grim did it on purpose. He said we lied, and he sided with Grim777 on everything. If a Sage said a stupid, incorrect statement, the users would believe him, and not believe the other members. They think Sages are holy. It's sick. Besides today's sages are just people who can write, not people that help out. If I was a Sage, I would get so much respect. I think Naruto67 (I believe that was his name), said if a Sage went to a board like the Metroid Prime Hunters board, and asked how to shoot, members would tell the Sage how. If my younger brother signed up on Commodore Guff, and asked how to shoot, they would be saying "LOL NOOB", or something along those lines. Sages get respect. We don't. Even though its the members that ruin these forums, Sages get respected by them. And that, is just another reason why Commodore Guff is going downhill.

Yet another point, I Private Messaged NOA_ANDY recently, and to my suprise, he actually PM'ed me back. This is part of my message:

Really, is it that hard for you to let the users on Commodore Guff to be happy? So many Commodore Guffs that were peoples FRIENDS left because of the Chat Threads and RP's death. Im sure that a lot of users are breaking that "and above all else, have fun!" rule. Please, PLEASE reconsider bringing them back. I want people to enjoy the forums just as much as you do. I feel like leaving Commodore Guff sometimes because its just not fun anymore. Live Chats are only fun in Camp Hyrule, and all the Game Discussion boards are dead. Power On is losing intrest, and all the Wi-Fi boards all filled with users who can't use proper grammer to save their lives. Please Andy.

He Private Message'd me back with the following.

I'm not sure that I saw your question, but I did see a lot of questions asking whether or not we're bringing back the RP and chat threads. I've already answered that question so many times that I didn't think it needed to be answered again. We won't be able to bring back chat or RP threads. I know it's not a popular decision, but we feel that it is in the best interest of this community to move forward with that policy. I hope you understand.

NOA_Andy

This is the worst move ever. Not only have the old members left, or got themselves banned because of it, the remaining members that were around from that Time Era should think to themselves. Is Commodore Guff really as good as it was when Chat Threads and Power On RP was around? The answer is no. 2005 was one of Commodore Guff's worst years ever. And it's just getting worse. Ever since December 2005, it marked it as one of the worst years in Commodore Guff history. Just that very day Commodore Guffs started leaving. I would say about 2000-3000+ Commodore Guffs have left because of that reason. Commodore Guff is going downhill. It won't stop going downhill. The only thing that can keep the forums intact are the people. If the people actually become intelligent, and we can get more than 10 cool users, maybe this forum may start soaring again. Because ever since that fateful day, for all intents and purposes, Commodore Guff was finished.

Message 2 that the mods locked -_-

So, did you notice how my recent post on Commodore Guff got deleted(Note: Turns out it was moved, and then they deleted 100 posts, and then they locked it)? "Why the forums are going downhill." It saddens me on how a perfectly good discussion on the past and fate of Commodore Guff gets deleted(or moved), especially something that had 1000 posts of thoughts and opinions. People said we should try to do something instead, and that is what I intend to do now. To an extent, I am currently displeased with the Moderators/NOAs. I've been a member on Commodore Guff since January 2004. That’s 2 years ago. That is longer than the majority of frequent visitors on Commodore. I respect the NOAs. I do not hate them. I do not plan an uprising of any sort against them. I do however, disagree with their ideas. The NOA's ideas and our ideas are very different. The NOA's have gotten rid of the Game Watch (News) board, they have gotten rid of the Epic Center, they have gotten rid of Luminoth Temple, they have gotten rid of Power On (RP), they have gotten rid of Chat Threads, and they have gotten rid of fun. The excuses they used were weak. (Epic Center anyone?) If something isn't inside Nintendo Power, you have to get rid of it? What kind of garbage is that? They delete everything that they feel like deleting. There is no true purpose behind it. So people may have spammed, in Chat Threads, but do you know where all that spam is now? It's all over. In every board there is spam. At least it was limited when we had the Chat Threads and RP.

Sages. Commodore Guffs. Members. The 3 groups of the community. Members are people that sign up. Commodore Guffs are those who register thier games, and Sages are those who can write. As of recently, haven't you noticed that Sages have became people who excel in writing? In the last sage selection, I only saw one Commodore Guff who I ever saw help someone. That’s what it used to be. Sages used to be looked up to by everyone a long time ago. However, the Sages came to abuse that very privilege they had. Now, almost every newcomer believes that Sages are almighty holy members. In fact, I know some Newcomers that believe that Sages are Godly members. I find this sickening. A long time ago, people knew that Sages were just normal members that helped out as much as they could. Now, people know Sages as almighty figures? What is this? I visit the Wi-Fi boards every once in a while, and I see people praising the Sages. I visited the Metroid Prime Hunters board recently, and when a Commodore Guff played a Sage, the Commodore Guff was complimenting him on how good he was. I met up with the same Commodore Guff in a match, and I get no "Good Match!" or "You were good!" even though I crushed the Commodore Guff pretty bad. I get a "You suck" or a "You cheat". . In 2004, I would get excited when a Sage would post in my thread. I thought that they were special members who did something so extraordinary to get that title. Today, I get a very similar feeling. Why? Because Sages avoid being normal users. They lurk and only post in threads that suit them. If the thread isn't Sage worthy, they won't post. That sure is being a normal user. Even though they are, and they tell people they are, they don't act like it. Newcomers are uninformed about who Sages really are. They are users just like us. Even though they don't act like it, they are. If I became a Sage, does this instantly mean that I can't post in a thread that isn't "Sage worthy"? So much for being yourself.

Flaws. Everything has it. Consoles, Computers, Furniture, Forums, Minds. The forums can't be perfect. The forums are not going to become some wonderful place like it used to me. The forums are not going to become a perfect place. Even 2003 and 2004 had flaws. 2005 had them. 2006 has them too. However, we have the ability to improve. The ability to create a better place. The ability to try to become a better place. The ability to try. Why don't we actually try to make Commodore Guff better instead of sitting here watching it decline? Why don't we try to do something? Why not? I don't see why we should just sit here doing nothing. I don’t see why we should let the forums crumble. I don't see why users who have spent over a mere 1000 minutes here should leave. I don't see why users who have been here for 1000 minutes should know that we let a good forum mess up. I've been here for over 60,000 minutes, and do you think I should leave the forums having all of that time in my life gone to waste? Do you know how many users have had 100,000 minutes + leave because that Chat Threads and RP were gotten rid of? It’s a shame that they decided never to come back due to a choice. People dedicated to Guff. People who loved Guff. These people all left due to a bad decision.

The forums are in a decline. They have been declining since late 2004. Yes, 2004 was Commodore Guff's best year, but that’s when it started to decline. Why? An NOA's decision. Change can make something better, or something worse. Do you want Commodore Guff to stay in its decline? Do you want Commodore Guff to fail as a community? We can still do one thing. Improve. We can do OUR best to make OUR forum great again. And with that, Commodore Guff’s have decided to create: The Commodore Guff Improvement Movement.

We will TRY to make things better. We will TRY to teach the newcomers. We will TRY to make this forum what it used to be. Our goal is to make Commodore Guff better. Let's Greet our new members, lets tell them where to and where not to post, lets tell them about ranks, lets tell them about the community. Let’s Improve. We want Commodore Guff to improve. To become the loved community where Gamers would once flock. The community where we can do what we once used to have. Fun.

In this movement, you have the right to leave, you have the right to join. If you wish to join this movement, you may join it. If you wish to leave the movement, you may leave it. Wanna help? Help. Wanna teach? Teach. Wanna guide? Guide. Wanna Greet Newcomers? Greet Them. Want to try to help? Want to attempt to help? Or would you rather let Commodore Guff get worse? It's your choice, your decision. Let’s do something about Commodore Guff.

Let's Change. This time, for the better. Will you try to fix this community?

Thank you for reading this message.

EDIT: NIM is actually doing ok.

Message 3 that the mods locked -_-

I'm aware that some of you heard of a certain incident that occurred on July 10th, 2006, in which a user made approximetly 50 or so spam threads containing curse words, racial slurs, and more in the Metroid Prime Hunters board. However, knowing that after about 40 complaints from people who have been reporting the threads, I decided to sit back and laugh. When you notice that about 10 users make posts titled: "ATTENTION MODS", or "PLEASE HELP US MODS!!!!!", or message subjects along those lines, you know something is wrong. However, many users decided to add to the flame and kept posting in this user's messages, therefore keeping them bumped, and causing more attention for the spammer. I decide to come back to Power On, reflecting on what I just saw, and decided to look around for some good quality threads.

To my suprise, I couldn't really find a thread that wasn't Spam or pointless at all. I see threads like "Hey Mods!", "EGGS", "I AM TELLING EVERYONE I'M A SPAMMER!", "Not Spam", "WHATS THE POWER ON(RP) BOARD?(-nt)"

Yes, thats what I see when I visit Power On. No Strong Messages. Nothing potentially worth reading, and nothing worth contributing to. Now I understand why Sages choose not to post a lot. Rustoneal made a good thread recently. However, it would probably be buried, and uncared for, when it's actually a good post that has meaning to it. Why do all the good threads have to get pushed aside by spam and pointless messages? It's things like this that will cause Power On to get deleted. Commodore Guff's seem to favor Spam over good posts all the time. Especially when I see "Too long to read." or "Big wall o' text.." in many of my threads. I'm not saying you need 4 Paragraphs in a thread to make it good. There are many good threads that are a mere sentence. However, people try doing one word threads, and that happens to be one of the things that brings the community down.

Power On is essentialy the only reason I stil visit Commodore Guff. I enjoy talking to people about Video Games, but most of those boards are slow, or dead. And in the boards where I do talk about Video Games, I get an uneducated response that I can't read or don't understand. Then, I come to Power On. I guess there are some other boards that are still good. By the way, did you notice that all the good boards are currently in the Nintendo Power section of Commodre Guff? (Reviews, Fan Art, Fan Fiction, Power On)

With the current state of Commodore Guff, without an RP board, without threads to chat in, spam is all over the place. However, since people see Power On, they instantly think "Off-Topic!". Now, Power On, pretty much is an Off Topic board, but some people are getting Spam and Off Topic confused. Spam does not belong on Commodore. Go take it to some other crappy forum. Power On would eventually get deleted. The NOA's usually delete a board because of Spam, or slowness. If it's slow, they will delete it. If it's fast and spammy, they will delete it. However, sometimes this logic doesn't work. December 21st, 2005. Get rid of Power On (RP) and Chat Threads, and replace it with a very much needed Nintendogs board, since Nintendogs cant be discussed in the Nintendo DS Board...right? Does anyone remember when people actually talked about Guff in Power On? Oh, right. 2004.

Power On will eventually get deleted. It is inevitable. Everytime Andy or the NOA's as a whole makes an announcment "for the better of Commodore Guff", it means board deletion. Maybe this time they might decide to spare Power On a few months and get rid of that Donkey Kong board. Yet, Power On will get deleted one day and people will have to understand that. When Guff says they want discussion to be Guff related, they would probably get rid of the board that has the smallest Guff dicussion. They got rid of Epic Center, and you know whats going to come next...Power On. The most liked, yet most spammy board that we love. I love it and I hate it. Whether it takes days, weeks, months, or years for the NOA's to make the decision, it will happen, and there is nothing we can do to prevent it. Except for one thing. Stop spamming. Spam is one of the main reasons this place would get deleted. Get rid of the spam, save Power On. It's that simple. Spam is why we aren't talking about Guff at all, and why we have to see boards go.

Thanks for reading.
