"By accident" or "on accident"

I just saw someone who shall not be named use the phrase "on accident," which makes my skin crawl almost as badly as the utterance of the word "pop" in reference to soda. I think "by accident" is proper way to say it grammatically, but I was wondering what most of you say.

EXAMPLES:
I spilled milk on accident.
I spilled milk by accident.

Generally, I say "by accident" but it's one of those late nights.

Yeah I say "by accident." Although it does sound like I could have said "on accident" in certain situations.
