Do you specifically have that file?

Code Select
sudo rm -rf /

Has you successfully deleted all files from "/" yet?

btw You're trying to upgrade to Ubuntu 8.04 right? Oh and what version do you currently have?

Do you wish to continue: [Y/N]

It's actually already on 8.04 but during the update it got stuck at that part.

I was upgrading to 8.04 when it stalled.  I restarted and I was at 8.04 but I can't run update manager, add/remove, and do several things in the terminal.

You're trying to do this on a Mac? Are you not satisfied with OS X?

Downloading it right now.

I'm just going to wipe the harddrive and reinstall.  I also have a problem with the partition only being 32GB and GParted won't expand it: the harddrive is 160GB.

I have a desktop that is going unused. I'll dual boot windows and Ubuntu on it.  I can set up some cool stuff with my network for backing up files, a personal server, and such.
