If I'm given meds should I refuse to take them?  The doctor already asked if I would be alright with medication or counseling.  I told him I'd rather attend counseling than cover up the problem with medication. I haven't given one in 10 years. I try every time and never do.

you have the right to refuse them
or you can just lie and say that you took them and then at the end say "LOL I DIDN'T TAKE MEDS FOR THIS WHOLE TIME" and make your psychiatrist pissed off.

I really should go see a doctor about the intense pain I get in my legs whenever I run or walk for extended periods of time, because it's getting worse in leaps and bounds.

Don't take the pills JMV, they will only throw you into an endless whirlpool of terror, addiction, deprivation, withdrawl, and eventual death by swallowing and choking on your own tongue.

Try being a girl and piss in a cup.   :(

Sometimes once you take antidepressants you have to keep taking them. It's called rebound effect or something I forget.

You'll have to take them for some weeks straight so it'll be "absorbed" by your body.
Then take them straight for a longer time from preventing your mental illness from coming back I guess. All they said when I didn't take them was that I may have a risk of falling in depression again.

Yeah. They told me that too. But it could be worse then it was when I started taking them.

How can a pill even help stop depression?

Wouldn't you realize, "wait, I'm taking pills? What the fuck difference does that make? That doesn't make my life any happier". And then fall back into depression?

psychiatrists magically guess that your brain is "chemically imbalanced" without blood diagnoses and give you pills to fix that.

I didn't even see a psychiatrist.  I was pretty bad.
And not all pills help all people. Some people it never helps. Then it's electro shock time.  :(

Last resort. When all else fails. Pretty rare. Pills worked for me.
