Warning: Do not bother reading the rest of this post for it will contain spoilers pertaining to the series and the movie as stated in the thread subject

I finally got around to watching it, and it was awesome. I didn't think I could love and appreciate the series anymore after watching all 51 episodes of the original anime series, but this film just upped the ante.

My favorite bits:
The Badass battle between Gluttony V.2 versus Wrath!

The gypsy song at the beginning of the film

Roy Mustang's life after Edward's disappearence (Roy was my favorite character throughout the original series, so seeing him with his cool eyepatch and his lower rank was pretty .)

Edward's return to his own world and his courageous decision to traverse back to beyond the gate.

Overall the movie was awesome, I really couldn't even pinpoint all my favorite parts in this movie it was so good. But I do have a tiny question about the dragon humonculus thing.

what the hell was that about? I remember Edward saying it was some humunculus, but I do not know which one it was and how it enabled that german chick to create the portal to "Shambala".

Also, when Hohenheim of Light aka Ed's father died in the alternate universe beyond the gate, did he die in the real world also? I don't remember whether or not Hohenheim went into the gate before Ed in the original series.

The dragon homonculus? That's Envy.

Remember in the last episode when Envy revealed that he was actually also the son of Hohenheim, he went into the gate in search of his father to kill him.  And on his way through the gate, he changed into a dragon, which is the same dragon you see in the movie.

The portal could only be opened by two homonculi on either side of the gate; in this case wrath and envy.

Though there are like... 'parallels' of people in our world. (I call the alternate world beyod the gate our world because that's what it's meant to be; a world wehere the people focus on science instead of alchemy. ) Each character only exists once. So if Ed died in our world, he would just be dead. He clearly hasn't been around in his own side of the gate. So, same goes for hohenheim. He ahs been in our world for much longer than Ed, and when he died, he just died. He wasn't in his own side of the gate, why would he still be alive there?

My favorite part of the movie was just the character parallels between dimensions. I was so happy when I saw Hughs. Even though, he was kinda an asshole for most of the movie. It was also interesting to see taht Rose's parallel ended up being a bitch.  (I never liked Rose much).

What's weird is that 90% of people you talk to about this movie absolutely hated the way it ended. Personally, I love it. The ending coldn't have possibly be done any better, if you ask me. The entire series, Ed and Al searched for their mother (and maybe even their father a bit) because they wanted someone to love them. All along.. all they really needed was each other. And of course, this was made obvious when ythey were seperated by te gate.

So when they finally got each other, do you really think they would be willing to let go? Just for some alchemy? No way. The movie ended with Ed and Al together, happy as can be. But it also gives that touch of bitersweet (super-happy endings suck) with leaving their lives behind, and leaving all their friends on the other side of the gate.

I just love FMA. It's been kmy favorite anime ever since I watched it. I have the special edition DVD for this movie, signed by vic ().  This anime is just so so so in-depth and meaningful.. it's hard to find anything that competes with it.

Ahh, yes I thought that the ending was perfect as is. And I think that the other alchemists on the otherside of the gate understand Ed and Al's bond and were willing to let Alphonse go to be with Edward since, as you stated, all they really need is eachother. Really beautiful.

No way, they hate that. They only do voices for crowds, generally.

And by religious, I mean if you ask them anything about  their carreer they always make a point to give god credit for putting them where they are today.

"I'm terribly blessed to be where I am.. I felt my carreer was not working as I had planned, so I prayed to Christ, and was led down the path of voice-acting, A day doesn't go by that I don't pray and thank the lord for the fantastic opportunities he's given me."

I know it's nit terribly religious, but it's definitely more than most others. To be saying that in front of whole crowds? And also, I have his CD, at least half of the songs are about his love for God. And also, on the Sunday of Connecticon, he and Caitlin held mass. >.>;

Truthfully, they're not that big. I mean, the crowd for Vic was only about 100 people (of about 10,000).

People are more into the music acts and web comic artists. Last year Scott Roomsywoomsy was supposed to go, but he had to back out last minute. This year he'll be there though.
