Can someone help me make sense of this? I have a general idea, but can you explain the middle part where it's high on the staff?

...it's just a snare drum?

Well, when I used to play drums all of my snare music was just on "C" on the staff... I'm not really sure about that. I'd just ignore the fact that the note goes up and play only based on the beat. >.> I mean, the snare doesn't really vary in pitch except by tightening and loosening the skinny thing...

So yeah, I'd say ignore it and just go with the rhythm.

edit: OH, it may be telling you to hit the rim of the drum there. I've never seen it written like that, but I think it would make sense...
