I've never played the original, but I heard it's amazing. I'll have to see the ratings of this remake first.

It's overrated, but it's still pretty awesome. You'd only think it was "amazing" if you were already predisposed to drool over typical Squeenix RPGs. There's some things about it that are better than their SNES-era FF games, but overall, they're not strikingly different.

The storyline is honestly much more interesting than what is found in most of Squeenix's games though, especially if you also play Chrono Cross to finish it off.
