For the bag/vague thing, how the fuck do people make them rhyme?

Do they say bage (like bagel without the L) or do they pronounce vague as vag (rhyming with fag)?

They pronounce bag like bage, the only accent I can think of that pronounces it like that is the Canadian English accent.

I honestly don't think anyne in CT has an accent, unless they're referring to the people wayyy north on the MA border.
