Socks, I'd kill myself before I permanently ink my mother's name into my chest.

I owe my life to my mother, not just literally but also in general. She has been through so much for me and our family. It is the very least I could do to bond her to me until my day comes as well.

There are plenty of other ways you can recognize or pay homage to someone through a tattoo; it's art for goodness sake.

Not really. Text can always contain some sort of message, whether it be poetry, lyrics, scripture or whatever. A person's name is just that; their name. It doesn't really represent anything in particular about the person.
