Finished And the Hippos Were Boiled in Their Tanks (William S. Burroughs + Jack Kerouac) and All the King's Men (Robert Penn Warren) today.

Hippos was cool, it's a just recently published novella that Burroughs and Kerouac jointly wrote before either of them were famous... they each write in first person from a different character's perspective, and it switches off each chapter. Fun short read.

All the King's Men took a while (about 700 pages and not really a page-turner) but it was worth it. Warren's writing is really unique, it's that early-century southern American style (like Faulkner) combined with something like Fitzgerald. For a story about politics, which I'd usually not be interested in, it was intriguing and on top of it all the characters were really fun to read into (the story is based on the life of Huey Long).
