Here is what I sent

Last week(specifically May 19) I was permanently banned for sending an advertisement for another forum in a Private Message (as can be seen in this screenshot http://i15.tinypic.com/62pnzwm.png).

I am requesting that this ban be removed for several reasons.  My main reason is specifically because I was told by a "Knight of Hyrule", the moderators who are supposed to enforce the rules, that what I did wasn't against the rules.  Several months ago I was having a conversation with one of the KoH and the topic of inviting members to forums came up.  I asked if me inviting them to another website would result in my account being banned for advertising. S/he stated that "advertisements were marked by their informal nature" and a personal invitation to a friend wasn't advertising.  Because of this I do not believe I should be banned.   "Knights of Hyrule" are supposed to know the rules; I listened to the ones responsible for upholding the rules.  No offense but, I cannot see the logic in punishing me for the mistakes of those whose duty it is to enforce the rules.  I doubt the KoH intended to misinform me about the rules, because of this I will keep their name private as I don't believe they should be punished for being human--that is making a mistake.

Another reason I am citing in my request to be unbanned is the fact that my Private Messages were read without any apparent reason.   Nintendude, who is a friend of mine, mentioned that he wanted the link in another thread.  Upon seeing this I PMed him supplying him with the link.   He was grateful to receive the PM from me and he joined.  He did not report me.   Because of this I am clueless as to why an employee of Nintendo of America was reading Private Messages I had sent to other users.  I had always expected that PMs remained Private unless reported by another user.   This was not the case.   In the past I had used Private Messages to contact Knights of Hyrule about private matters.   In light of the recent event of my Private Messages being read without warning I fear that I can no longer contact a trusted KoH about something that may be really important, and keeping it anonymous.   I do not send inappropriate PMs to users so I know that no one could have reported me without lying to NoA.  I would like to request that my ban be lifted and that the NoA employee tell me what they were looking for in my PRIVATE messages.


I understand that I have been banned 6 times prior to this ban.  Regardless, this time I truly believed that what I did was not against the rules and I hope that you do not include those into your judgement when considering the circumstances of my ban.   I now understand that regardless of who you PM, whether it is a random user, or a close friend, that you are not allowed to provide links to external forums in a PM.  If unbanned I will not do this again.  I hope you can see where I am coming from and decide to lift this ban.   I'd like to thank you for taking the time to actually read this e-mail(or at least I hope the whole thing was read.)  and I'm hoping to be unbanned soon.
