Yes, but it was Bronsen's definition of what advertising was that is in question.  Cat's thread didn't state what constituted advertising. Bronsen's definition was clear.

I'll have to paraphrase Bronsen since I obviously do no have access to the PM. "Advertisements are marked by their informal nature." 

Advertising would be randomly(or not even randomly, searching out a certain group of users and sending them a PM). 

The invitation I sent to Nintendude, who is my friend, were under similar circumstances to the invitation to the invitation send to Bronsen.  Bronsen told me it wasn't against the rules.  I listened to him.   

Also, the PM wasn't reported, it was read by a NOA without contact from either Nintendud or myself.
