Maybe they won't be complete dicks and let you trade in your old one for credit or something and then hopefully only have to pay a small price. Who knows though.

I hope that's the case. I still think I should get the Apple insurance and send it back to be checked.

Your phone is fine, it has nothing to do with the Jail Break.  baddood;

New 3G ones should be out on the 9th.

mhmmmmnnn hours less battery life oh yeah

Also AT&T massively upgraded their whole EDGE network as the iPhone first came out, so I don't doubt they'll do something similar for the 3G ones.

They didn't upgrade shit for the iPhone. It was just coincidentally the time Cingular/AT&T was becoming awesome.

Too bad AT&T's 3G coverage is crap.

3G is new. At least the 3G is covered in most very populated areas.

If anything, the heat is from the battery being used extensively; my cell phone does the same thing. The speaker's probably blown from him blastic music.

Or has this already been stated?

Yeah, it has. But they didn't "blow" I guess it just over heated and needed to cool down. It's working perfectly fine now.

Uh, that's not a very Apple-like thing to do. When color iPods first came out, the batteries were the same or better. When awesomer MacBook Pros came out after the first ones, the battery life was the same or better.

Technology advanced. However, 3G is still a known battery consumer and there is no current workaround. All new 3G phones have less battery life than EDGE phones, and one of the reasons Apple didn't include 3G in the first place, according to Jobs, was because of the current battery limitations of 3G phones.

3G is 3G. Apple has no magical less power-consuming 3G chip or a magical super battery. Contrary to popular belief, Apple gathers pieces from other companies into their devices, and there are no ways around the battery issue.

Well, that was a year ago, and I have no proof of it, but something tells me they wouldn't be releasing a 3G phone if it wasn't a good idea.

Oh, it's a good idea. People still want it, and no casual user has to know about the battery problem.

Actually it was just a few months ago when El Jobso talked about this. Just before the European launch.
