Because most people think they're not a real race. In a way, they're right, because "gypsies" in most cultures don't specifically mean the romas.

But yeah, I think most people these days think the real gypsies are just a myth.

We have them in Albania, since there are no Black people, or anything non white or Albanians in my birth country they are the defaule Niggers and get treated as such. Even worse, in terms of legal/social status...
