You know how the auctioneer at an auction rattles off that incredibly fast dribble constantly during a bidding for an item?

Does all that actually have meaning, or is it just for like fun or something?

same question goes for the hot wheels adverts

guff

perhaps it's to create a sense of urgency so that the prospective buyers throw caution to the wind

or maybe they just do it because they're silly yeah that's it

its to get your heart rate up and get nervous and kinda a tradition as well

makes you wanna bid high

What guff said.

And it would seem that's it's really only a common practice in the US and perhaps Canada, I was flipping through channels a few years back and I came upon an auction show on BBC America and the auctioneer was speaking is a calm manner, but then again I could just be generalising things from the few times I watched that show.

what about the hot wheels adverts, i can understand like trying to give the illusion of speed, and high octane action and shit like that, but sometimes i'm just like........wtf did he just say

yeah my dad goes to those auctions quite often so i hear them actually do it, sometimes they have a funny bidder and he says stuff in the middle like "man its hot, hot, hot, going once, going twice, it's hot."
