I got a riddle for yah

I heard this on the radio today and thought it was pretty cool. Enjoy:

Ok, so have 2 fuses and a lighter. Each fuse takes an hour to burn all the way through, and they're not attached to anything. They fuses burn at random, but take an hour overall (like, the first half of the fuse might take 10 minutes to burn but the second half would take 50 minutes). You have way to tell the time at all. No watch, cell phone, etc.

Question:
How do you tell when 45 minutes has gone by?

Ok, you light one fuse on both ends. That is 30 minutes. Then you cut the other fuse in half and light both ends and that would be 15 minutes.

Umm... is this really that hard? Light one from both ends and wait till it burns out fully (30 Min), the instantly light another one from both ends and wait until it burns roughly half way (45 Min).

Because that other half may take just ten minutes to burn, so lighting both ends of the half would take 5 minutes.
