Now that I've gotten your attention, lets get down to business. My computer sucks dick. I realized how bad it was when i figured out that I couldn't even run CS1.6 on it  >.<

Anyways, I have $300 on me right now and am willing to take an additional $200 out of the bank to put toward it. I'm going to use my current monitor/mouse/keyboard/etc so i just need the computer. Nothing else. I'm not going to use it for anything crazy, I just want to be able to run the bare essentials, but run them smoothly.
I want it to be able to do the following with ease:
-CS1.6
-Starcraft (wait, my current comp can do that)
-Internet Surfing (I have that now, obviously, but i don't want to wait fucking 8+ seconds for each page to load. I want it to be instantanious. Oh, my ISP is comcast, so that isn't the issue)
-iTunes (I can do that now, but if I try running it while anything else is running, my computer goes 123123x slower than normal. I don't like that.)
-emulators/torrents (haven't even touched them on this comp, but w/e)

Here's my current specs:

I know...  ugly;

So, like I said before, i don't want to spend over $500 on a computer, so if someone could post a prefered model or specs for what I need, that would be super n_u

Just look around for the cheapest computer you can find, and work up from it.

Anything is an improvement from your point. Though if you want something good at least, start at a 1.8GHz Dual Core Processor and a GB of RAM (2GB if you're getting Vista, which is likely nowadays). If you get vista, at least get Home Premium.

Ok, thanks dude.
I heard that if you get a single core processor, CS1.6 will run much better than on a dual core processor since the single has more GHz than one of the double guys, which is what CS1.6 was made for, so even if i got a dual, would CS1.6 still run ok?
And I don't want to go near vista, so that isn't an issue.
One more thing, what brand should I go near? I'm leaning toward an HP, just because my friend has one from a few years ago that works beautifully, but I hardly know anything about any of the other brands. What would you reccomend?

I'm looking at this one. It comes with vista, which makes me mad, but has enough ram to handle it.
What do you think?
While Dual Cores have slower processors, there's still two of them so if something starts eating up one cpu, you have at least the other to work with. It seems good enough, but if you're worred about the processor, put more money into one, same with the RAM avd the videocard.
